Consumer Mortgage Advocate was created by Elizabeth Alvarez to serve Ventura County and has since expanded its services throughout Southern California.
Consumer Mortgage Advocate is a non-government, community service organization, operated and funded by private donations. The Mission of Consumer Mortgage Advocate is to reach out to individuals and families to offer education about the long-term advantages of homeownership and to direct consumers to the safest, most suitable loan programs available to help with the financing of a home.
After having spent over a decade in the non-profit and arts management business as a media expert, public relations manager, concert manager, and grant writer, Elizabeth found a passionate calling in education for mortgage and home ownership issues.
She effectively worked both in the lending and real estate arenas, and she quickly earned her California Real Estate Broker's License; she ran her own successful real estate business from 2002 to 2005. While running her business, she identified and started offering free education programs. Elizabeth quickly created visibility throughout the community as an education advocate for first-time buyers.
Elizabeth's experience in the industry confirmed that most consumers are overwhelmed by the vast choice of programs available, and are in need of basic homeownership education. She also learned that consumers require guidance in finding programs for first time buyers, as well as resources for hiring ethical mortgage advisors and real estate sales professionals. In 2005, Elizabeth redirected her considerable energy into community outreach and education.
Known for being knowledgeable, proactive, resourceful, and compassionate, Elizabeth has been called on by municipalities, private companies, and multiple non-profits in the County of Ventura to advise and assist in educational efforts, particularly toward first-time buyers. Elizabeth is Program Director and Media Manager for Consumer Mortgage Advocate. She also works as an independent industry consultant to develop Educational and Community Outreach Programs for mortgage professionals.
Elizabeth offers simple homeownership preparation guidance to consumers; she is regularly published in the Ventura County Star. She has been contacted as an industry Consumer Expert by the Los Angeles Times, The Ventura County Star, Gold Coast Broadcasting, among others, as well as the Governor of California's office.
